Harvesting eggs in survival is fairly easy. Make sure you are comfortable using the bed, and then right-click a rare spawn egg before you turn in. If you do end up hatching it in survival, it will appear in your new Champion's Collection under the breeding tab.
There are two types of dragon eggs, in which one can be purchased, and which must be attained through other means. The first type, Rare Eggs, are of an unknown rarity. All eggs begin at a high value, and quickly fall down to a lower one as you get further and further along in battle. This means that the better your End Portal is, the better the egg will hatch. The second type of egg, Magic Eggs, is much more valuable. This means you won't be able to craft the same tools and armor as you would with the rare eggs.
As a tamer, you'll need to build a dragon nest on a bedrock surface. As mentioned, this will best be achieved by placing a boat on a sea biomes. Once completed, the nest will spawn a dragon which doesn't attack you twice, and will hatch an egg. This will be selected from your breeding tab. However, the egg will only hatch within a certain amount of time, after which you will need to go back to your boat and wait for it to regenerate again.
Eggs are vulnerable to fire and other sources of damage. If you place them in your inventory, they will run away to their nest. Either way, you can get a dragon egg by pressing Shift+Right-clicking a dragon, or by pressing Shift+Shift+Right-clicking a rare spawn egg. This will add the egg to your inventory, and the appropriate hatchling dragon will appear in your Champion's Collection.
You can add the Mine Layers mod to your minecraft software to aid in your survival efforts. When placed on a solid ground surface, the mine layers add player-placed blocks to the detached zone, making digging faster. d2c66b5586
