In a population-based cohort of Caucasian women, two questions were addressed: “What is the association between body weight at age 16 and the development of PsA and rheumatoid arthritis?” and “How does body weight change over time in women who go on to develop PsA or rheumatoid arthritis?” In women who developed PsA or rheumatoid arthritis, there was a significant difference in BMI between the groups at the age of 16. This marker therefore appears to be specific enough for prediction of PsA and can be considered high evidence.
