Once you have all these files downloaded and installed, you should be ready to run a test patch. For a performance oriented test, open the patch in Microsoft Excel and set the AutoInterrupt to 50%. I found DP3 to be very sluggish on this test patch. Even after a restart, the patch was still taking minutes to run. Because of this, I can't recommend this method for full speed testing of DP3. It's more useful for applying fresh patches than for performance testing.

I ran a test patch from DP3. You can find the appropriate patch here: http://www.robotc.net/podcasts/DP3_TestPatch.zip. I used the patch to repair a corrupt patchfile, then tested the patch to determine that it did what it said it would. The patchfile from this testpatch has been deposited on my site, and can be downloaded here: http://www.robotc.net/podcasts/DP3_TestPatch_fixed.zip. The only difference between the fixed patch and the original testpatch, is that the testpatch has been reversed, so that you can test the patchfile in the same way that you used it to test the patch. Once you've tested and approve the patchfile, you can use the patch to perform any repairs to your patchfile, and then use the patchfile from the testpatch to test the repaired patchfile.
